Thursdays October 8-15, 6:30-8pm
A three-week Zoom conversation about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the martyred German pastor and theologian. Please sign up by October 7 to receive the Zoom link by emailing Pastor Jeremiah (pastorjeremiah@lpumc.org) or Alex (alex@lpumc.org).
Pastor Jeremiah Harris and his wife, Pastor Lee, invite you to a three-week Zoom conversation about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the martyred German pastor and theologian, on October 8, 15, and 22 from 6:30 – 8 pm. Bonhoeffer’s witness continues to challenge the church today. Together, we will explore how his life, writings, and resistance to Nazi ideology speak with urgency to current questions about Christian nationalism, faithful discipleship, and the church’s public witness, inviting thoughtful reflection, honest conversation, and renewed courage for following Christ today.
Dennis Shaw will lead the class. Rev. Shaw has spent his adult life in service to church, country, and community. Born in the West and raised in the South, he has sung, listened, led, and served across the U.S. and abroad (including Alaska, Korea, and Germany). He served 23+ years in the U.S. Army and two decades as a United Methodist pastor, with meaningful time in Colorado and Utah. A lifelong athlete and Boston Marathon finisher, Dennis lives in West Virginia with his wife, Marilyn. He has been a keen student of Bonhoeffer for over 30 years and recently self-published Slow Work of Trust (available on Amazon in paperback, Kindle, and Audible).
Please sign up by October 7 to receive the Zoom link by emailing Pastor Jeremiah (pastorjeremiah@lpumc.org) or Alex (alex@lpumc.org).
